What We Do:
Kids in Parks takes middle school grade science classes on bi-weekly field trips to McLaren Park, providing students and teachers with a year-long sequential program that includes:
--Mapping geographical features and landmarks of the park
--Hands-on participation in park and neighborhood restoration
projects
--Identifying plants, trees, mushrooms, birds, insects,
amphibians, reptiles, and butterflies and their larva food plants
--Studying the history of the native Ohlone people
--Learning about the watershed, the water cycle, and
the impact of erosion
--Recording observations and findings in a nature journal
